He is both a leader and partner on his clients’ financial journeys, guiding them with invaluable wisdom and perspective while providing consistent accountability to keep them on track for their goals.
Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, John saw financial advising as a way to build a business while making a meaningful impact on people’s lives. With a background as a teacher and coach, he brings strong communication, empathy, and leadership to every client relationship. For John, it’s not just about the numbers—it’s about helping clients prepare for the future with confidence, education, and trust. His greatest reward is knowing his work empowers clients to achieve their goals and navigate life’s financial journey with clarity and assurance.
John earned his degree in economics and history from the University of Texas, Austin. With over three decades in the financial industry, he holds multiple advanced licenses, including the FINRA Series 7, 63, and 66, among many others. These credentials, combined with his extensive experience, have solidified John as a trusted advisor, offering clients reliable guidance and strategic insights.
John started his career in the financial industry in 1989 at Prudential Securities, where he became a branch manager and later, Vice President of Investments. He went on to work for Kidder Peabody, Legg Mason, and Dain Rauscher before joining Raymond James in 2005 and ultimately, the Winstone team. In joining Winstone, John found the perfect balance of autonomy and support, enabling him to run his business on his terms while accessing the resources needed for continued growth.
Born in San Jose, California, John was a child when his family moved to Houston in 1967. Today, John and his wife Beth live in Sugar Land and have four children. He is an active volunteer in his community and enjoys golf, fishing, waterfowl hunting, and family activities.
